The Meteor Book
Construction, Manipulation, Performance.
Rhys Thomas. The only complete exploration of Chinese Meteors in English. Step-by-step instructions in the ancient art of Chinese Meteor swinging. The idea is to hold the middle of a 2-meter cable, on each end of which are balls of roaring fire (or brightly colored streamers, or fishbowls, or glowsticks, or . . .), and whirl it about yourself, creating a spectacular display of skill and danger. Meteors combine elements of club swinging, poi, and staff twirling in a new and versatile art form. Every trick is completely described and illustrated. With a foreword by Tim (Fyodor Karamazov) Furst, and an extensive fire-safety guide. From basic positions through Follow-circles, the Fountain, Helicopters, Windmills, Poi-Balls, Wraps, and one-handed work. Comb-bound to open flat, thoroughly illustrated, 60 pages, 8.5 x 11", 1999. $16.00
We have wick in all sizes at bargain prices. |
